Pasay City-Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Arthur Tugade isinalat na isang tagumpay ang kontruksyon ng Light Rail Transit (LRT-1) Cavite Extension project sa administrasyong Duterte.
“From being one of the pioneers in establishing railroad network in Asia, ironically, we are trailing behind. From more than a thousand-kilometre railroad network in the 1970’s, our country’s operational railway length drastically shrunk to only 77 kilometres in 2016,” ani ni Tugade sa isang Facebook post.
Aniya napag-iwanan na ang nasabing proyekto na 19 taon nang naantala. Sa kasalukuyan, 50 porsyento na ang natatapos sa nasabing proyekto.
“Right of Way acquisition started way back in 2007. Unfortunately, 0 [percent] was certified ‘free and clear’ by the independent consultant when we came in. Now, the LRT-1 Cavite Extension is 55.6 [percent] complete!”
Sa sandaling matapos ang LRT-1 Cavite Extension magiging 25 minuto na lamang ang biyahe mula Baclaran sa Parañaque hanggang Bacoor sa Cavite mula sa kasalukuyang mahigit sa isang oras. Kayang maglulan ito ng 500,000 hanggang 800,000 pasahero kada araw.
“The investment poured by this administration in the railways sector under the Build, Build, Build program is significantly larger than the total railway investments in the last 50 years combined,” dagdag pa ni TTugade
